Director of Engineering (Climate tech)
Location – Central London
Salary – £130k – £150k + equity options
Neulinx have partnered with a fast-growing climate tech scaleup (currently 20 people) on a mission to make home energy more efficient and significantly reduce carbon emissions. With strong government backing and significant funding, they are scaling up and looking for a Director of Engineering to lead their tech function as they expand.
This is a hybrid role (London-based) with the opportunity to shape the future of a high-impact, purpose-driven business—with a clear path to CTO.
The Opportunity
As Director of Engineering, you’ll take full ownership of the engineering function, leading a talented team of 10 engineers while working closely with leadership to drive technical strategy.
You’ll be responsible for:
• Building and scaling the engineering team, ensuring high performance and a strong technical culture.
• Defining and executing the technical roadmap, working alongside product teams.
• Leading full-stack development across React, TypeScript, and Python.
• Ensuring scalability, security, and performance as the company grows.
• Collaborating with leadership to develop the long-term technical vision.
• Driving innovation in sustainable home heating and energy efficiency.
• Progressing into a CTO position as the company scales.
What We’re Looking For
• Experience leading engineering teams in a startup or scaleup environment.
• Strong full-stack engineering background (React, TypeScript, Python).
• A track record of scaling teams and systems in a fast-moving business.
• A leadership style that fosters collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Passion for sustainability and building tech that makes a real-world impact.
• Experience working in a climate tech, energy, or similar mission-driven industry is a plus.
